Carols by Candlelight

Many thousands of Cantabrians and visitors to Christchurch have been involved in the joy and spirit of the Christchurch YMCA Carols by Candlelight event that  has been held every Christmas Eve. 

This year we are delighted to announce that this event will be held in the Events Hub in North Hagley Park.  (Entry via either Armagh Street or Salisbury St bridges).

2011 will the see the 64th  Carols By Candlelight since it was first started in 1947.

Carols by Candlelight is a unique event that encourages people to get together and celebrate family and Christmas in a traditional and magical manner.  It is the only Christmas Eve event of it's kind in Christchurch and indeed for New Zealand - as it lacks any commercial agenda.

Bringing together all faiths, age groups and cultures Carols by Candlelight is a true celebration of family, of Christmas and of community spirit.

Join us from 9-10pm  for this free event in North Hagley Park - bring a picnic, a blanket, your children and parents.
